Complete Walkthrough

This page provides a detailed, step-by-step guide for creating your nutrition label.

Before You Start

Make sure you have:

  • Accurate nutrition data for your product
  • Serving size information
  • Number of servings per container

Entering Your Data

1. Serving Information

The serving size is crucial - it determines how all other values are interpreted.

Format: Use household measure + metric weight

Good examples:
- 1 cup (240g)
- 2 tablespoons (30g)
- 3 cookies (34g)
- 1 slice (28g)
- About 15 chips (28g)

  • Round according to FDA rules
  • Display prominently on the label

Understanding the Preview

%Daily Value

The %DV shows how much a nutrient contributes to a daily diet:

  • 5% DV or less = Low
  • 20% DV or more = High

Automatic Rounding

Values are rounded per FDA rules:

  • Small amounts may show as "0"
  • This is normal and FDA-compliant

Exporting Your Label

PNG Format

  • Resolution: 2x (high quality)
  • Background: White
  • Best for: Web, email, proofs

PDF Format

  • Resolution: 3x (print quality)
  • Background: White
  • Best for: Printing, packaging

Troubleshooting

"Please enter a serving size"

You must enter a serving size before exporting. This is required for all nutrition labels.

Values showing as 0

Small amounts are displayed as 0 per FDA rounding rules. For example:

  • Less than 5 calories = 0 calories
  • Less than 0.5g fat = 0g fat

%DV not showing

Some nutrients (Trans Fat, Total Sugars, Protein) don't have %DV requirements.

Next Steps

After creating your label:

  1. Verify accuracy - Double-check all values
  2. Review format - Ensure it meets your packaging needs
